Those healers who are mana pot junkies during a fight may need to work on their MP5 and reduce their overhealing a little when Wrath of the Lich King comes out.
There will be a new potion sickness that will affect you after drinking a pot. It’s a debuff looking thing that says “Unable to consume potions until you rest out of combat for a short duration”.
This means, ONE mana potion per fight!
I’m not exactly a mana potion junkie, because I have always kept my mp5 as high as I could, tending to favour mp5/spirit over straight +heal. But even so, there are some fights where drinking only one mana potion will be really tough, especially some fights in Hyjal.
Generally speaking, I currently use my trinkets and shadow pet before I drink a pot of mana. To regen some more, I use the Inner Focus talent once I’ve gotten outside of the 5 second rule so that my first cast is also free of mana and prolongs my stay outside the 5 sec rule.
If you’re already good with keeping your overhealing down and have high mp5 while casting, I guess what this means, is that we will become more reliant on those classes that can regen mana for us. Mainly, shadow priests, resto shamans and druids for innervate. We may also have to max out our threat reduction where possible since Blessing of Salvation no longer exists but it means we are free to get Blessing of Wisdom instead from our friendly local pally.
All things considered, if we shout out for some mana regen a little while before we run out, the other supporting classes should be able to help us out!
